Our Technology

State of the Art Dental Technology

We are here for you, improving one smile at a time.

At SE Dental, we utilise all the latest dental technology in our state-of-the-art clinic. Everything we do is tailored towards giving you and your dentist a better understanding of your dental condition. These processes allow us to better explain any treatments you may require, and to use digital images to illustrate any problems you have.

Rotary Endotontics:

Rotary endodontic treatment is used during root canal surgery and involves rotating the endodontic file with an engine. This process allows for reduced instrumentation times, which means fewer files are required throughout the procedure. The most commonly used material for files is a combination of nickel and titanium as their flexible properties allow for curved roots to be treated more easily.

In order to provide the highest quality service and care we need as much information as possible so our dentists can plan the most effective treatment for your teeth. Digital X-rays create a vivid picture of your teeth, allowing us to make well-informed decisions regarding how to treat any dental issues. It also allows us to keep a track of your dental history, monitoring any problems that may be developing to ensure that we act fast to minimise cost and damage.

Dental cone beam computed tomography (CT) is a special type of x-ray equipment used when regular dental or facial x-rays are not sufficient. At SE Dental we may use this technology to produce three dimensional (3-D) images of your teeth, soft tissues, nerve pathways and bone in a single scan. This procedure requires little to no special preparation. Tell your dentist if there’s a possibility you are pregnant. Wear loose, comfortable clothing and leave jewellery at home. You may be asked to wear a gown.

OPG:

An OPG is a panoramic or wide view x-ray of the lower face, which displays all the teeth of the upper and lower jaw on a single film. It demonstrates the number, position and growth of all the teeth including those that have not yet surfaced or erupted. It is different from the small close up x-rays that most dental practices take of individual teeth. An OPG may also reveal problems with the jawbone and the joint which connects the jawbone to the head, called the Temporomandibular joint or TMJ. An OPG may be requested for the planning of orthodontic treatment, for assessment of wisdom teeth or for a general overview of the teeth and the bone which supports the teeth.

Intra Oral Camera:

Intraoral camera is used in assessing and diagnosing oral health problems. It enables you and your dentist to have an intraoral close-up analysis of the different structures inside your mouth. An intraoral camera has a built-in light source which allows the dentist and the patient to see the external structures of the teeth, the gums and the buccal cavity. With the illumination, intraoral camera is used to take videos and the still camera is used to capture the image of the condition of the teeth which helps in the assessment and diagnosis of plaque formation, dental cavities, gum diseases, chipped or cracked tooth, broken dental fillings and other oral conditions.
